NHS 111 - Call before you go
NHS 111 is the new service that has been designed to make it easier for you to access local NHS healthcare services in England.
You can call NHS 111 when you need medical help fast but it’s not a 999 emergency.
NHS 111 is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Calls are free from landlines and mobile phones.
The NHS 111 service is staffed by a team of fully trained advisers, supported by experienced nurses and paramedics. They will ask you questions to assess your symptoms, then give you the healthcare advice you need or direct you straightaway to the local service that can help you best.

We provide extended hours surgeries for doctor and nurse appointments. This means that the surgery will remain open until 7.00pm every evening (8.00pm on Wednesdays). Please contact reception to book an appointment or book using our online booking service. Please be aware that these appointments are provided to meet the needs of patients who find it more difficult to attend during our normal surgery hours.
If you feel that you need an urgent appointment with your doctor please ring us as early as possible during the day. You will be seen on that day but you may not necessarily be able to see your own doctor.
We operate a telephone triage system in the afternoon where the duty doctor will call you back to offer advice, treatment or to book you an appointment to be seen. Please be ready to give some information to the receptionist when you call so that she can make this information available to the doctor to help prioritise urgent cases. You will be seen on that day but you may not necessarily be able to see your own doctor.
In cases of extreme urgency, for example suspected heart attacks, severe shortness of breath or acute abdominal pain, you may be advised to go directly to a casualty department. The nearest casualty unit for adults and children is open 24 hours a day and is located at:
Royal Surrey Hospital
Tel: 01483 571122
For such emergencies it is quite appropriate to dial 999.
